Haydn Quartet in E flat op. 33 no. 2 ('The Joke')
Anthony Gilbert Haven of Mysteries
Schubert Quintet in C major D.956
Described by The Strad as presenting 'a masterclass in unanimity of musical purpose in which severity could melt seamlessly into charm and drama into gentility' the Carducci Quartet is recognised as one of today's most successful string quartets. Winners of international competitions including the concert Artists Guild International Competition in 2007 and Finland's Kuhmo International Chamber Music Competition, the quartet has appeared at prestigious venues around the globe including the Wigmore Hall (where they earlier last year gave the premiere of the Anthony Gilbert quintet to be heard tonight), Carnegie Hall, Library of Congress, the National Concert Hall, Dublin and the Tivoli Concert Hall, Copenhagen.
Guy Johnston came to prominence as winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year in 2000, and made his concert début at the Proms playing the Elgar concerto. He has since performed concertos with all the leading British orchestras, and in Europe, the Middle East and the Far East.
